How to track traffic?

    Hi,

I put up a website to sell my own eBook recently and have made 2 sales shortly after that.

Though my traffic mainly comes from Ezinearticles, I am not 100% sure the actual source of the traffic that converts into sale.

Can someone here recommend a way to track it? By the way, I am using paypal to accept money from buyer.

    Thanks!

Have you tried using some kind of analytics program? To start with you can use Google Analytics which is a free javascript include file which you put in your website pages and then it tracks all the origins/referrers etc and shows them in tabulated and graph format so you can find out from where your visitors are coming from.

You can use statcounter for free. It's in-depth and gives good info, but only for the last 300 visitors. For you, that would probably be enough at the moment, right? Also, a lot of people overlook just using c-panel in their hosting to check out your site visitors. easy as pie!

In fact, what I would like to know is if it is possible to have something like clickbank tid (tracking id) so that I know which campaign actually brings in the sale.

    Thanks!

Use statcounter and Google Analytics. Try to create conversion page and add it to goal page in google analytics so that you can check or monitor the conversion of your site.

Any visitor tracking program will work great, all depends you what strategy you have to track the performance.
Some analytics programs show you whole activities of a particular visitor, so you can trace that which visitors are purchasing and from where they came from.

The site provides details on visits in your website, begines with the landing page, shows where it was referred from, through the rest of the pages the visitor viewed while at the website.

The website traffic tracking system was built in order to provide information about what a visitors are doing while visiting a website.

Knowing WHAT a visitor is doing while visit a website is crucial information when it comes to develop traffic on your website.
