Hi, I would like to know how we can track who refers us to a particular page. I use Google Analytics. What if I need to give the same link to different people and see which person refers most people to that link? Are there any parameters that can be added to the link so that Google Anlaytics might figure that out?
I usually use Snip-N-Tag (a Firefox plugin) to have more "tracking juice" behind my links. It should allow you to do all of the things you're looking for.
I want users to be able to modify the link so that their names will come in my Google Analytics account along with the number of clicks from that particular link. How to make this happen?
The plugin would allow you to shorten the link, and under one of the fields (your tracking preference) put their name. So the medium/campaign in Analytics would read "Joe Smith." They would have to have the plugin, or you would have to assign the links. You basically input the URL into the plugin, and then set the fields you want to track in analytics (like campaign, medium, etc.) That's the simplest way I know how to do it without purchasing an Affiliate type tracking program.
That is possible, and makes sense. I have never used it personally though (or seen it used) so I can't confirm 100%.
I have Analytics on my site but I have never used it how I track where my visitors are coming from is my live chat program it has the track software built in and shows what links brought my visitors to my site it is great
