How To Track Conversions Without Installing Code

    Hi Guys,

This is my first post on this forum, so hello to all!

My question I hope you can help with is about conversion tracking - I have setup an adwords campaign, but I need to be able to track conversions (instead of logging into my clickbank account and checking for sales) because I want to be able to identify which keywords are getting me sales.

For instance, I have one keyword with a CTR of over 7% and I have another with 1.85%. But the one sale that I did get - did this come from the 7% or the 1.85% (statistics assumes from the 7% but I need to be sure so that I can optimise effectively.)

Now the thing is that I really need to be able to do this without installing the code in the Vendors page - purely because I want to get up and running asap, without waiting for the Vendor to install code.

This is how I think the pro's are doing it....

I have been doing research on this, and have seen some affiliate marketers have actually managed to put the Vendors site on their own URL - how on Earth have they managed to do this?

An example is (and I dont have a vested interest in these sites!):

    - waterautokit.com - this is someone's landing page, scroll down and you will see the 3 affiliate links. BUT if you click on, for example, the Water4Gas link it doesnt direct you to the actual Vendors site but instead goes to waterautokit.com/recommends/water4gas.php/. This strikes me as a very efficient way of tracking conversions, and also keeps continuity for the buyer.

How has this person done this and is it the best way of tracking which keywords generate sales.

Or alternatively is having a landing page where the affiliate links are just hop links better - but then I still need to be able to track the sale on the vendors website. For example:

    - threereviews.com/autos/WaterFuelSavingsKits.html

Basically, in each case, how can I make google recognise that a particular keyword generates a sale.

Thanks very much for your help!

    Jim
p.s. as a small caveat, notice how these sites are landing page sites, and not directly to the Vendors site. I know this has been discussed a lot on DP, but I have a feeling that the guys making a living with adwords always use landing pages - correct me if Im wrong though.

Do you have Google Analytics on all your pages? If yes, you could set up goals in it, so you will see all the conversions not only from Google AdWords, but from Google organic and referral sites too.

I would like the answer to the same question, "How to track the sale or activity at the affiliate´s site. After a visitor leaves my landing page, it is like a black-box, I don´t know what happens. I know I should just "have faith", but I want to know!

I have read that "adtracker" has the ability to track sales and activity down to the keyword even on the affiliate page, but is there a free way to do it?

Basically, I would like more transperancy in terms of what is happening at the affiliate page. For all I know, they could be screwing me over. I would like a way to verify all the people that went to the affiliate page or verify that they even got there, and what they did when they got there and what keyword they used to get there.

I think you need to add code to view a website or we would all be checking each others websites!
