Hi, would like to know how to know whether a user is using a credit card to pay inside Paypal. Does chargeback only limit to those who used credit cards for payment? Also, is it legal to sell e-gold in eBay and I get paid in Paypal? Thanks.
A regular chargeback occurs with a credit card sale, but PayPal will still "chargeback" the money from an unhappy customer, if they file a claim and you don't make anything about it regardless of how they paid (CC, PayPal Balance, e-check)... And last time I checked, you couldn't use PayPal for buying or selling any type of e-currency...
But how do Paypal know I am trading e-currency with somebody? I send e-gold to someone's account, and on the other hand, someone send me Paypal without mentioning e-gold in the process?
The best thing to do is not to be involved in e-currency exchanges. There are ways for PayPal to find out and eBay also doesn't allow it.
The decision is yours if you want to breach your contractual agreement with Paypal. If you get caught and get your account limited or your funds foreited, do not come back here to complain about the injustice which is done to you. Money exchanges is dangerous and as you know e-gold transfer are not reversible but paypal transfer can be disputed. If you sell e-gold, there might be the likely chance that the other party may raise a paypal dispute and get his money back but do not need to return your e-gold. In situation like this since you are engaging in prohibited activities, you cannot raise any dispute but be open to the risk of abuse. Paypal does not discriminate between people who pays via credit card or via paypal balance. You will need to accept payments from all available payment methods. Besides the likelihood that someone can pay through paypal balance is slim because they must have existing balance in the first place which limits to other Sellers from the 40 out of the 190 paypal supported countries. From what I understand, maybe people just withdraw their money leaving a zero balance so they have to pay via credit card.
Thank you for your kind advice. And I now understand that Paypal TOS doesn't allow to me to trade with other e-currencies. I will stay away from those kind of activities.
Actually that only applies to personal accounts where incoming credit card receipts comes with fees and paypal balance with no fees, however with a premier/business account, it makes no difference if the money comes from a paypal balance or credit card.
There are other similar services that allow it, though. They are not as good as "Big PP", but you can try them out... I think StormPay is one of them.
