So my site used to be indexed by Google and now all subpages are but the main page does not show up on any search results. I looked through all the indexed pages for my site and the homepage does not show up. How can I tell if Google banned by main page?
It hasn't banned it. If you have too much dynamic content on your main page or even sub pages, it takes any search engine to take some time to 'cache' it. MAYBE that is what is happening with you. Wait it out.
What is the URL of your site? If this is the site www(dot)2leaf(dot)com that you were talking I checked it on google and it was indexed.
The site is actually collegebeing.com. It is almost one year old and was indexed by Google with a pagerank of 4 a few weeks ago. I have been submitting sitemaps on a regular basis. Any ideas?
Thank you. I don't know how I missed that. But my my page does not have a pagerank. Any reason why I would have lost my pagerank all of a sudden? @n3o: My site content changes a lot so I update my sitemap to include new pages. It is all done automaticly using a php script.
I was using the co-op ad network with "nofollow"? I have a feeling it was my messed up .htaccess file that I fixed a few days ago. It was causing problems with some aspects of the site so maybe it also caused problems with the spiders?
Your site is not banned, its already indexed. Is ranking of site dropped ? if no then dont worry about page rank.
Try Google webmaster tools, add a sitemap to it to check your website indexing status and other factors. There, on the dashboard, Google will show your recent home page crawl ex. Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on May 7, 2008.
its funny because with my site it says that Googlebot last accessed my homepage April 10th but I get crawled constantly as I always add new content. If i do cache:mysite.com it shows the last cache date of may 9th so something is wrong there
