How to tell google not to index ??

Hello,

I have a site thats already indexed in google and site is running on wordpress.
Now i want to install wordpress on the same site on a different directory and use that as a test site, so i do not want google to come and index that wptest site .
How can i accomplish that ?

 

you will have to make a robots.txt

put a robot.txt into root folder, but in wordpress you also have privacy setting and can disallow spiders. So if you're making a site you can just enable "block search engines"...and when the site is finished open it up.
