If you are buying a fresh domain, then the domain's age will be 0 days. If you are buying an aged domain, i would say they would have mentioned it but it is better to have the domain whois'ed so as to be sure about it.

If you are doing website making for the first time, then i suppose you should go for a fresh one. Aged domain is only good because it has backlinks all round the search engines and is more reliable. This brings more people join in and hence makes good traffic. I would recommend you to go for a fresh one if you are totally new to this.

A whois looking is the easiest way - if you go here http://domains.whois.com/domain.php?action=whois and type the domain name in the box provided (e.g. google.com) and enter the verification code.

The search results will show a lot of information, the details your after are like the following:

    Created on..............: 1997-09-15.
    Expires on..............: 2011-09-13.
    Record last updated on..: 2008-06-08.

The Created on record shows when the domain was first registered, hense you can work out the age.

    Hope this helps.

    Why buy aged domain?
I don't think it will benefit you in term of any form.
Unless the aged domain have PR and backlink.
I always use this to check the domain age

People buy aged domains only if they have some backlinks or PR. That will make the crawling rate higher..
