    We need to switch from Apache2 handler to FastCGI, too. We do not have cPanel or Plesk available. Our environment is running VMWare vSphere and Win2K8. This need is due to our use of RocketTheme Templates for Joomla, now that they have introduced LESS Framework into their templates and components.
    When we initially create a virtual machine with a Joomla instance, it is automatically configured to use Apache2 handler right from the start. Server info is on the attached screen snip.

    How do we switch to FastCGI?
