was wondering with all the shit slinging about owners, directories in general and Googles stance in particular, whats the best way to continue support of the "good guys" and "girls" in the directory industry? Those that built great sites and are now facing unneeded rumours and bias against their respected sites?Higher bid amounts, free links? please give your opinion..thanks

I think the better directories will still hold their authority from massive backlinks but the average directories are in trouble.

Honestly, good on google for keeping the SERPs natural!

There's always alternatives to being at DP, especially for directory owners.

I am curious. What are you considering better directory, the top 10? Are the massive back links just reciprocal links?

There are so many that exist for paid listings or attempt to inflate PageRank by reciprocal links. Many are just organized link farms. I think it serves Google well to limit the number of directories they give weight to.

I don't mind if I see a PR8 directory pop into my SERPs once in a while but if my results were packed full of PR4 directories, that would suck.

live-cms_com there is no direct relationship between SERP's and page rank.

the best we can do is wait and see, i know there are a few who are talking rubbish all day long, but then am pretty sure the serps will come back in a few days time, and everything will be normal again!:)

PR represents your backlinks and backlinks give you better rankings, so there is a relationship.

If my PR0 search engine targets the key phrase 'search engine' I will be outranked by google, yahoo and msn. I realize that the rankings are due to the backlinks but the backlinks are represented by the PR0.

Wrong. Try working with the free directories for awhile. You also need to rethink your take on PR.

But there is correlation. All factors that contribute to PageRank area subset of those that contribute to rankings.

That might ave been the original idea but the bright boys running sits lke Aviva and Alive sure put paid to that and I suppose they have done us all a favour. Its not difficult to mae your way to #1 allthings being equal and especially in moderation.

In other words don tear the ar*e out of it. Be patient, work at it and it happens.

I would really love to know if it is right to fight for the same cause even it is a wrong perception. Is it about of something of a brotherhood or is it for the true cause. I don't think people would join Greenpeace if they are extracting oil in the north pole because that is just so BLIND to me.
