Hi Just wondering your thoughts on the following. I am in the home stretch designing a website. My question is "when is too soon to start submitting the website name to directories". Can I start now even though I am still amassing content for the site and it wont go live for 4 weeks? thanks
I would have waited until the site had substantial amount of content. Many directories would not list a site that is half done or is under construction. After all, if a directory would start list sites that wasn't finished, they would loose visitors. So, wait by submitting your site, until it's ready.
Wait until you have the site up and running with some content. I've had success getting the home page and a few other up then start submitting to directories. Just do a handful every day and then go back to adding content to your site. Don't submit to directories if you don't have any useful content yet because your effort will be wasted when the directory owner rejects your site.
Submit to directories when the site is complete. Otherwise, your site will not be accepted by many directories. Also, I suggest you only submit your site to high PR, top directories only. Submitting to 1000s of directories will not help much.
Hey Amassin, Directory submissions are pointless. Do it once you got some content so directory owner will approve it, and won't think it's crap. You won't get traffic, minimum if any. Just do it for link building, but don't expect any traffic no matter how many directories you submit it to. - Garala
