It's $299 a year review fee, every year. There is no one-time pay. It is a review fee and if they don't accept it, they still charge you. Make sure you have a quality site before submitting.

Thanks for your reply, is there any standard for quality site in yahoo's eyes? Their official policy is too boring to read. :)

But it is not necessary to promote your site via yahoo directory. you can use high quality free directories to submit your site. Good luck.

Here's the full list of requirements in submitting at Yahoo directory: https://ecom.yahoo.com/dir/reference/instructions

Remember the more carefully you prepare, research keywords, debug pages, write valuable content and compile your description, the more chances there are to be included, this is regardless of whether it is through Yahoo! Directory Submit or the Free Submission service.

Yahoo does not list commercial sites for free.

    Read the Yahoo site:

    US$299.00 non-refundable,
    recurring annual fee

Required to submit commercial listings but available for any site.

    http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?1

If your site isn't commercial (no ads or selling anything) then you can submit it but very few sites are accepted.

If your site is old, it may have a grandfathered listing since it used to be free many years ago. There are also some instances where people have paid the $299 to get in, and then not renewed, but the listing wasn't removed.

Yahoo doesn't even approve paid sites in two days. Perhaps they are doing something different for foreign country regional listings because they don't carry any link juice being so deep. You can read what it says, no commercial listings can be submitted without paying $299. You have to pay before it is even submitted.

You don't get a yahoo listing for direct traffic (you get little to none) but if you are in a top level category, it will help with SERPS.

I'm talking about the category depth - it's so far in it isn't going to provide any boost - and perhaps it was already listed or they made a mistake. If you really got in for free, then its ok, but that category isn't one that you should pay for.

His right why are you wasting your time on submitting your link to yahoo?

Try using Google, twitter and some social networking site, Google give you more traffic.

For paying 200$ to be included in a directory right now is way too much but i think it can be worth it if you can afford it
