    Hello,

I have website, which is break down into sub-domain, such as www.site_name.com and sub domain is www.forum.site_name.com, now I wanted to submit this to Search engine, my main aim is that forum should get properly index rather than www.site_name.com, on this I have some related information about my website, so my question is how do I submit my forum and web_pages to the search engine.

First do I need to submit Forum.site_name URL to the search engine or site_name URL to the search engine.

What precaution do I need to take before and after search engine submission such as content updation..

Please suggest the most appropriate answer.

    Regards

hello! so and did you properly install file robots.txt? i think it's the best way to separate your forum and site and get them to index. haste with it, cause site could be added into google's cache while you don't know about that.

But what will if happen If I submit two separate URL's to the search engine one with the site_name and other with the forum.site_name.

i think search engine treated your forum site, and main site as different manner,so don't change in robots.txt file just submit your website

You don't really need to submit your site to search engines, they can find it on their own. Just putting it in your sig and making one post here will do the trick.

ninjashoes is right. don't submit as this might even slow down the process.

First i will be apologies for the delay in continuing the thread. But thanks guys for your help.

Now I will continue the same question, I have sub-domain that is forum.site_name and the main domain is site_name. So, if i just submit site_name to the search engine, will search engine automatically checks whether this site_name has other sub-domain that is forum.site_name and properly index every content. Or for this recognition do I need to separately submit the URL. that is what I was asking in my above two questions, please help..

    Regards

If you don't submit your site into search engine then also no problem SE can crawl and index your sites automatically.. you just to gather some links.. (ex. bookmarking in Digg.com)

all you need is a proper navigation on your site linking to all the main categories or subdomains. you can have all the pages and subdomains on a sitemap as well that you can submit to google using google webmaster tool. all you need to do is to submit the main site or the main site sitemap and google will find the inner pages including subdomains. also focus on link building as more backlinks you have, more visits you will get from googlebot and more quickly you will get all the pages indexed

I suggest not submit your site to the search engines, because nowadays they usually visit first as soon as they consider your site worth a visit. I heard from several SEO gurus, and they all suggest not do so.

I suggest to create a Search Engine Sitemap that helps the crawler to learn about the structure of your site. When spider crawl your Sitemap all the pages of the website (forums.site_name) is crawled and helps in indexing.

    Thanks once again whoever replied,

Let me ask you one more thing regarding submitting sitemap, I am running the same VBulletin forum script, they do provide sitemap page for forum, but that only includes sitemap about the forum categories, and not for the whole website, In this case should i separately create sitemap for a whole website and forward it to the search engine.

But the problem is that if i create another sitemap, search engine will get two different sitemap to read the structure about my website. One that I will create for my whole website and another that is provided with the forum script.

    Please help!!
