Normally you'd want to create separate sets of articles, one roup to submit to article sites and another to put on your own page. for duplicate content issues. That's the way I do it. I have never had any problems with duplicate content so far but...I guess that's a possibility since there are a couple trusted article sites and if your site is new you're better off creating two sets.

I would suggest you write one set of articles for your site and a different set for the articles directories
It depends on how you want to play it - but you need to be careful because search engines wont index every instance of your articles

My method is to write the article as I would like it to appear and put it on my own site. Then I go back to a brainstormed listing of article titles I have thought up in the past and write shorter articles niched to these titles

When you come to submit your articles I would get a list of as many good articles sites you can find and then go through them one by one and submit your article. I would suggest you need at least 5 articles to get you started - then simply post away!!

You will find some articles sites like a HTML version and other accept just plain text - so you might need to save a HTML version as well as a plain text version. I usually save my articles in a plain text file like notepad
