    You can turn off Windows 7 updates altogether through All Programs/Windows Updates. It seems a little bit bold at first but once you have a good internet security suite, its just fine. Did it with my own computer once I started hating the slowdowns caused by the frequent updates.

    If your Windows is genuine, there's no point of turning your updates off.
    Some updates are too essential not to be installed in your system.

    I don't think you can do anything about it except you disable the updates altogether. If you need the update then allow it to restart after updating.

    Please create a system restore point first!

    Open registry editor and navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU

    Change DWord value of "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers" as follows:

    0 = Allow auto-reboot
    1 = Disallow auto-reboot

    Restart computer.

    Else use freeware Ultimate Windows Tweaker to do it easily.

    Very simple, add a small tool in the panel, click "link for gadgets " on the Microsoft Web site to browse to the wealth of the latest gadgets. . You can download and install, if there is natural to update the old version of the new version.
