Hi this is an awesome feature. Just wondered if this is a VB option, or a hack? I could do with something like this to stop the drive by spam from newbies.

Make them have 50 or more posts before links go live.

    Go to:

    www.vbwebmaster.com

Join and start a thread on it and they will tell you how to do it. :)

true, most spammers are not patient enough to "work their way up"

To my knowledge that is not a "Hack" it is a permission for a given "Usergroup".

It's mostly usergroup stuff, but does require a little minor hacking as well.

I think that not allowing parsing of links is a waste of time. The page reading programs see them anyway. That is a fact. (ok maybe not, I made that up)

As for it being a priviledge what's the big deal? In the case they post a link, the only one penalized is me when I want to follow it and have to copy and paste it instead of click it.

I'd have thought that to be obvious?

But the spammer doesn't get a backlink.

We know this to be a fact? I'm not ready to buy that just yet. I like the point of this thread, eliminate them. That has me thinking which function in the vB API is about to be hacked.

May be we can have following rules that till someone has 10 posts, they can't have their signatures, no PM facility and can't post their links.

This way we can keep lurking spammers at bay.
