10 hours a day in front of a LCD isn't that bad on the eyes at all.

I think the best solutions for keeping eye-side perfect are ...

    Use LCDs
Don't sit on computer while in dark.
    Wash your eyes often.
And try to consume small time on computer.

    Excess of everything is bad

Try doing some eye exercise...roll your eyes from left to right, up and down...repeat this steps for 10 mins.

This will really help reduce the strain in your eyes. Iska is right, try to look at green colors like leaves, trees or even walls painted green. Green color is proven to be soothing and relaxing to the eyes.

Get a filter screen. Also take short breaks and do not focus too hard at the screen.

Get up and take a walk every hour or 30 minutes. Be sure to pay attention to the things farther away from you than your computer monitor.

    That helps a lot :)
