First of all i would like to say Hi everybody, i'm an new member here I'm quite new to the "start getting traffic network" and global websites. So my question is - How do i get started, how do i get my site some good traffic? Of course there isn't any big problem in spending a few $ if it helps. Any advices? /Mattias
Hi Mattias. Read all the other threads first (traffic generation has been discussed all over, so use search with trust ), and go introduce yourself after that As a startup, you could submit your website to this web directories list. Each list contains several hundred other web directories, so you've got enough work for 6 months
My recommendations are: 1. Submit to DMOZ (if accepted it will be a nice start, it will give you few backlinks & PR in most cases). 2. Submit to Directories (remember to submit to the catagory related to your website topic). There are thousands of free and paid directories. You should consider submitting to few paid directories as well. 3. Exchange links with websites that are related to the content of your website. If you have a travel website, you should exchange links with travel related sites only. If google sees your link from many travel related websites that will help you gain better ranking in SERPS. 4. You can also consider writing articles and submitting it to article directories with your link. 5. I would also recommend to participate in forums related to your website topic. You will not only get latest industry updates but also backlinks from your forum signature. 6. If you are in a hurry with a good budget why should you waste time, just start with google Adwords. That will bring you some targeted tarrific quickely. BTW, Just follow the good advice from "expertu". Do not take it personally.
First part is to submit your websites within all free web directories (to the relevant category) and also to non-relevant if you can with some tricky anchors. Put Title, Description and Keywords in meta tags in your websites on every pages. And then check everyday that how many directories placed your links.
Hi, Welcome to the forums! What I can add to the foregoing wise advices is that you shouldn't also forget about on page SE optimization and providing competitive content(without resorting to bad techniques, of course Good luck!
6.If you are in a hurry with a good budget why should you waste time, just start with google Adwords. That will bring you some targeted tarrific quickely. I've been thinking about that, but i'm not really sure how to get the site go with a profit of a certain %, since you need to pay. This is just a informative page with adsense as "target" The content is fine by me, the keywords and related words repeats them self quite good, since it's needed Thanks for your advices. I shall read around on the forums and keep it coming if theres anything you would like to note me about.
Mattias, just don't start with adwords from the beggining... Try to see if some work can get you were you want your company/website to be, for free. Also, remember : make pages with unique titles and descriptions. Not the same title or description for every page of your website
The 2 main things are getting links to your site and making sure your site is optimised. Post your url here to start and you will get lots of help on the second point.
I started my main site back in May of 2005, and what worked for me was this: 1. Word of mouth. Make business cards with your site's name and pass them out to everyone you can. You are bound to get at least some clicks this way. 2. Monitor your google referrals, just what search terms are you ranking well on without even making an effort. Than you can build on those terms by writing more content about those terms. 3. Linking campaign brings some traffic but don't count on directories to give you traffic. This is more for improving your pagerank. Instead partner with specific sites that have visitors you want.
Well the site is in swedish (the one that well be released soon). So it might be hard to give advices since its not in english. Thanks for the posts, once again
