I'm new to websites. In the past, all that I have worked with is free software that I just install on my website, but I want to actually design and build a site myself. But where do I start? I don't know where to look or how I'm supposed to start out with this.
Buy A Domain + Hosting Make the site (Dreamwaver) + php css and photoshop and you can make beautifull things
A good place to start is the Open source web directory Down load a few templates and have a play around, you'll soon learn how things work. This is assuming that you have a little html knowledge, if not there are plenty of sites around that'll give you the basics; eg. Learn html
Back to basic. You start learning html. buy some books about html and develop website using nvu. For reference http://www.webdesign.org.
If you cant afford to buy books to learn html, or any other web design related thing, you may want to try going to your local Barnes and Nobles, and just grabbing a book and sitting down at a table and taking notes. I know lots of college students that do it that way as well. Then you can take your notes home and try what you learned that day.
I will recommended the same. I've got all my basic info about HTML and CSS from that site too. Anyway if you need a live guide, try join a graphics and design forum. Ask your question there.
i would suggest you 2 try ur hands at frontpage frst...!!its really simple if u see HELP files den go 4 Ezgenerator software download ! hope dis will help and give to some basic idea abt web designin instead of learnin all dose tuts
Bleuch. HTML is really not hard at all, and it's worth learning no matter what aspect of web design you choose to pursue. After you get a good grip of HTML, you can choose to specialise. "Web design" really encompasses a large number of different skills, and very few people are able to master them all. There's usability, CSS, Flash and motion graphics, podcasting, graphic design, 3D, not to mention all the programming aspects. CSS is the logical thing to learn after HTML, but after that you have a whole lot of choice, and you should take a while to consider what interests you the most rather than trying to grasp them all.
Unfortunately, what you're likely to learn from this is that Frontpage produces bloated code. And so do most WYSIWYG editors.
HTML is a must if you wish to go custom. CSS, PHP, and others are mainly a plus and makes building websites easier to maintain. Buying a domain and hosting can come later since you can test the site files (if not server-side, unless you have that software installed) on a local machine, aka your computer. HTML, however, is quite easy. <tags> are used to define text, image, and etc properties. Best to look around the web, via Google or so, for some tutorials. However, it was so easy that I taught myself through trial and error... well looking at Dreamweaver's code view acouple of times while designing.
Learn the basics of html. learn how to center an image <center>... </center>. To insert a title in your page <title> ....</title> . Once you learn some basics, play around with it and pick up a new thing every day. Pretty soon you'll be more comfortable. You are not going to read a book and then open notepad and build a website. Practice, study, fail, try again you will pick things up as you go along. Just dive in there and do it.
