Do you want to host the video yourself?
If no, you can upload it to Youtube and use the embed code provided by Youtube to embed it on your own website. And Youtube accepts videos that are shorter than 10 minutes.

If yes, you have to rent a web host server to host it. And use Flash as your video format, or rather FLV. You can use flash video player to play the FLV files.
And this tool, Moyea Web Player (http://www.playerdiy.com/) can help you on this point, which is free, for it is a quick solution to make custom flash video player directly from your FLV files. It also provides a free FLV encoder which can convert all video to FLV.
    Here is the tutorial -

Do you have a digital camera that films videos? Do you have windows xp or vista? If yes is the answer to both, that is all you need - except an account on a video hosting site.

Film the video, use windows movie maker to edit them, upload to a video hosting site and embed them into your website.

Over the past 2 years I have uploaded over 320 videos to youtube and other video sites.

this is great when you want your videos found only in your site but i don't think you'll get lots of traffic unlike putting your videos in youtube.

If you have your video Cam then you can capture for a video you wanted.
then upload it to You tube, get the embedded code and post it into your site.
Or you can make it in Movie maker or the use Muvee.
Muvee is more stylistic in making your movies.

you may want to try having your efforts recognized first through some contests that connects with brands such as http://en.eyeka.asia/partner/advertising-awards

if u want to try making animations, you can try this too.
    http://en.eyeka.asia/partner/portablefilmfestival

it's a worthwhile experience submitting your calls for entries and you never know until you give it a shot!

Use MP4 files with H.264 codec. You can use the free Handbrake software to encode your finished videos. If you already have hosting for your sites, you just need to upload the files to your host. The JW Media player can play back your files and there are several Wordpress plugins that make this really easy. Another player you can checkout is Flow Player.
