I assume yours is a dedicated? First off you need a good control panel to set it up and administrate things, Cpanel or Directadmin are two choices.

realize too that users can often do things and install scripts that can screw up the whole server, so be prepared to do troubleshooting work often and with no notice, and you will need another hard drive to do backups too or pay for a backup service.

that processor you have is not very fast either, your server could bog down really quickly depending on what the users are doing on it

oh, I thought you had a server at a datacenter

if you are thinking of hosting from your home on a regular home connection, it is very likely that it is against the TOS of your internet provider

This isn't really related, but if you ever are in need of a good unique hosting template, message me. I don't sell a single template more then once, so you can be assured this is 100% unique, never seen before.

You would be better off spending $10 a month for the first 6 months and just buying a reseller account at HostGator.com. This will be bigger, faster and better then your server and the cost is only $10 a month and you do not have to worry that someone hacks your server.

Build up the business and then you are out maybe $100-$120 if it flops. At the end of 6 months, transfer the data/clients to your own server after you get your feet wet.

This along with adult entertainment websites are some of the most competitive markets out there right now.

    Good luck my friend!

I would recommend you to develop a good website and order a reseller hosting package for beginning.

It is also important to provide high quality and earn a good reputation at the very beginning. Once you have fully satisfied customers they will recommend your services to friends and other people. It is very important to become a well-recognized brand at the market!

If you even have to ask that kind of question, you don't know enough to be a good host. I'm not trying to be rude here but when your clients need support, they expect you to be able to help.

If he begins from reseller account he doesn't need to support customers at all. All that he will need to do is to redirect problems to host.

I think 2 mb connection is far away from enough, unfortunately.

Use xammp if you want to make life easier for yourself. You could do with 2mb but it wont be the most pleasant host :p
