    This will be a complete article on how to start a unique blog written by conrad from earnerstalk.com.

    Firstly;
    Before everything you have to think to yourself are you going to start blogging as a hobby or for means of earning money. Depending on your answer will greatly affect how you choose your ways around blogging. Also I would like to add that blogging is not the best way of earning money on the web, it is very hard and demanding division of the internet. With that noted, lets get your blog set up.

    Hosting Yourself or Using A Free Host
    This will be one of the biggest choices you will make when starting your blog, Hosting yourself will help you brand yourself better, but will cost more money, and using a free host of course free, but will not let you brand yourself as well.

    Free hosting for you?

    Free hosting is just the thing for you if you are just starting to blog and have not really decided that you want to earn money from blogging or you do not have time to have a major devotion towards blogging.

    When using a free host you will not have your own domain, but you will have a unique subdomain. An example of a free hosted blog can be seen at this link conrad

    Also most of the times free hosting site offer many diverse themes but there limited to custom themes for only your sole blog.

    Blog on your own domain

    Firstly, like in the title you will have to buy domain (.com/.net/.org/. ext).
    Namecheap if the best domain provider, they accept paypal and you can get domains for as low as 9.29/year. One year is the minimum a site can be registered for, and depending on the site and extension some require more then one year.

    Also some other domain providers include;
    Godaddy
    eNom
    Network Solutions
    Register.com

    Nextly will be picking out web hosting to put your newly bought domain on. There are hundred of domain hosts on the internet, but here I will list some of my personal favorites.
    HostGator
    The Planet
    Dream Host
    Host Monster

    Thirdly will be finding the software to blog on, once your host and domain are added together. The most used software being Wordpress and the one I highly recommend for your blog.

    I have one blog on free host (blogspot), but i prefer to keep them on my server with my (bought) domains. It will cost less than $50 a year and it will be completely yours, free hosts can shutdown your website anytime, without a single word.

    BTW. Nice article, but to be honest not very innovative or unique.

    To me, these aren't an either/or. There are two decisions either/or decisions to make:

    a) Whether to have your own domain name or not. I would almost always say have your own domain name, whether blogging as a hobby or for profit. The only time I wouldn't bother would be a small, personal blog for intended for friends only.

    b) Whether to use a free host or not. This is less clear-cut, and the answer may change over time. But if you have your own domain name, it's not so much of an issue - you can start with free, switch to paid, and just re-point your domain name, keeping all your page rank.
