My first order of business when I am ready to take someone live is the following.. http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/ http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/ Also gzip on or off on the server effects a few things and or how you configure a few things but super cache typically does the trick. I also have some code fu I use in htaccess from time to time but it takes some tinkering based on how the hardware is configured. https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=www.arenareviews.com that helps as well but aside from recoding a few things what I suggested should resolve most it and make it way faster. hope that helps, Nigel
www.quickerwordpress.com this is probably the only site you need ( its mine) pay attention to the site loading time. but it has all the tops and tricks you will need to make it FAST!!
Lol there is nothing on it... I would not really consider that a real world metric. Would you? Its a tad disingenuous. At least make an effort and read this thread as well... https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/logo-contest.2695343/ Nigel
The loading time of your site is good. You can not say this is a slow site. If you really want to improve your site loading speed then use GTmetrix to find out blocking factor and try to remove all of them.
Hey, mate! Ensuring that your site speed will help greatly in the long run! I commend you for taking action now! I actually read an article earlier that was showing that site speed can affect search rankings as well. The first thing I would do is head over to the Google developer tools and run a site test on your domain. It will give you helpful suggestions such as decreasing the amount of http requests and optimizing images on your site. Here's the link: http://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ The second thing I would do ( after taking action from step 1 ) would be to head over to quicksprout.com and input your URL there. It will "grade" your website and has a lot of suggestions as well on increasing page speed. After you do both of those head back to the Google developer tools and run another speed test. Rinse & repeat those steps until you're satisfied and getting better scores! Hope that helped! :: Vinny Polston ::
user a dedicated server or a vps server - and also try to use the cache plugins the other commenter posted - they work, but they sometimes dont update your website right away if you made a change to the text, so be observent.
Good thread to learn new things about wordpress, thanks for asking that question about speeding up WP website!
If you can do anything on the server side, make sure you have an opcode cache running like APC or Xcache. We had added Xcache and the site started flying. Scott
I would also recommend using Plugins together to help you with the speed. Plugins like WP Super Cache and WP Smush it are good - I use those two to improve the speed of my site. I have also lowered the number of plugins I use in my site. I used to have over 60+ plugins installed and that really slowed my site down a lot. So now I only have 30 plugins - and I always try to use as less plugins as possible. This can really help you improve the loading time of your site. One Website I use to check the Loading Time of my Site is.... http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ Use this Online Tool to check the speed of your site and then take a time to Analyze the end Results. See what takes the most to load up and work from there. The loading speed of your site is very, very important for the success of the site. You need to make it load as fast as possible. But also do not spend too much time on it if you cant get it right. Do the best you can, work a little harder and make some money to invest into someone or something that will help you build a faster loading site. Hope this helps you man! Much success!
