hi i want to know how to speak like american, i am not american nor british, i am indian but i am in need to learn american accent, cause i want to do job in american based call center. please please give me advise or some useful link related to this. thanks
Give me some thing other then this. i do watch hollywood movies [hbo, star movies ] and news on cnn but give me some thing strong that help me understanding and speaking just like american.
Trying listening to American music and singing along. I find this has the ability to help one strip themselves of their accent.
Please take no offense at this but unless it is a requirement to get the job, WHY? I mean every other company in America has outsourced their Help Desks/Call Centers to India and when we call them, we don't get an Indian with an American accent. I am one of the lucky ones, in my job, I speak with people all over the world and most dialects/accents are very easy for me to understand. So, don't worry about it unless it's a requirement, you aren't going to be any different than any other Indian answering the phone!
As long as you know how to speak english and they understand what you are talking it's ok... You will become fluent as days go on... Practice makes perfect...
Lift your words.. Pitch raising almost inperceptibly toward the end of the last sylable. Try not to let the last sound linger to long. Not always the case but seems to be to be a big distinction I have noticed between Indian and America accents. Especially with greetings and friendly conversation. Opinions?
to Speak American you have to put on 200 pounds, chew bubble gum, munch 20 big macs a week and sit on a spiked fence.
There is no universal 'American' language or accent. It varies from state to state, in southern states you'd expect more 'rough' language compared to Virginia, Illonis or New Jersey.
Don't watch just any TV show, watch the evening news on ABC or NBC. Those hosts are paid millions of dollars a year because they have the voice that Americans are comfortable with.
make sure to always end sentances with "My man." americans say that all the time. for example: "i understand your frustration my man." "please restart your computer my man"
