    Hello,
I have a 2 months old website and when i search the website name in google
The description shown below the website name is some random text from any of my post. How do i change it to what i want ? I am using Drupal as the content management system.
So where/how should i change so that the entered description appears below my website name in google search results.

    Thank you

Use "all in one SEO" plugin, you can make a custom description & title with that

Yup. He's right, you need to edit your Description and Title meta tag... You should do this for every page of your website

The 'description' meta tag is what you're looking for.

If you're not using wp you have to enter it manually in the header section of your html.

As above, a SEO plugin should be able to help change this.

recently we have seen Google bypass the description tag and choose its own description for websites. About 10 days ago we sell results in Google in which they had actually changed the titles of pages. This means that Google may be applying descriptions and titles according to your search query.

for example if you have a homepage that has three sections: cooking, clothing, sports. And someone does a search involving cooking and your site is relevant and strong Google may extract a portion of your homepage from the cooking section because it is relevant to what the searcher is looking for.

If they used the descriptions specified by you and you may not have focused as much on cooking in your description. So in that sense the user would miss out on your site which might be just as relevant as a site that did use cooking in their description.

All this is pure speculation at this point but it does make logistical sense in that is connecting end-users with the content they are searching for more quickly. It's going to take a while longer to see if any of this becomes fact

If you dont specify your description tags, Google willpick some random information about your page from the content on the page.

You need to create your description tags for your pages....
Try nodewords module for Drupal, which makes it possible to add several meta tags (abstract, copyright, description, keywords) either manually, or semi automatic.

Great theres a module for that i'll try and see.
And after adding descriptions and meta tags using nodewords module the search results will show that description soon after the changes or will i have to wait till google bots crawl my website ?

Search Engines take 15 days to update meta tag information.... You have to wait for 15 days.

    Hi

Do search engines also take 15 days to update alt tags on images, too?
I presume if you're using an XML sitemap, any updates are automatic, right?

    Thanks

    G

In my experience I have always found that updates on alt tags takes around the same amount of time as everything else does.
