    Hi there,
I have been for many weeks playing around with Adwords.

Essentially the site i am looking to promote is to do with real estate and in specific Dubai.

Now i have been trying to forumlate what i feel would be an effective Adwords campaign.

The words that i have choosen to target are dubai property primarily and then dubai real estate.

What confuses me about Adwords is that is purple seems to be nothing more than a money game.

I mean how much CPC should you put on a word? and what kind of CTR is thought of as a good CTR? 1% 2% 10%?

It just appears alot of folks must be spending fortunes on it?

Any insight into this would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance
    Ahmed

Yes, it's definately a money game.

A good CTR is 1%. A great CTR is 10%. The higher your CTR, the lower your CPC needs to be to get the same placements (and same click-thrus).

This is how I play my CPC. I find a CPC that I'm comfortable with. Then I divide it by ten and start there. As I get more comfortable with the campaign, I raise the CPC. I keep raising the CPC as long as the campaign is paying off. This works for me.

How did you do that? Do you mind share a little bit more details? Thanks.

k, let me explain. Let's say I'd make money with a CPC of $1. Then I start my Adwords campaign at $0.10 ($1 / 10). I feel it out. Some keywords will do fine at $0.10. Others, I'll have to move up to $0.20, then $0.30, etc, until they perform, but I stop at $1. When they don't perform at $1, I throw them out.

I'd always thought a CTR of 5% was good and higher than 10% very good. I've been stuck at 7.5% for the best part of three months ... although the Ad is always in the top spot ...

So of my best and most profitable keywords have over a 30% CTR, but across all my campaigns I average around 8%. Remember the higher your CTR the less you pay for clicks.

    MetaGuru,

Thanks for posting that link for the SEO Search Labs. I have never seen
that one and it looks good.

I didn't realize that your CPC goes down if you have a higher CTR. That
    makes sense.
