Im just curious...how do they/you set up a domain, where are they came from? are there any different ways how to set up? are there any different types of domain? Thanks.
domain setup ? if you are talking about hosting then u can setup by nameservers or using dns management of domain registrars
Just go to a domain registration site like GoDaddy or HostGator. Pick a name you like to set up, then pay to have it "registered" then its yours, nobody else in the world can have that name. Then you have to get a company to "host" your website, 99% of the time it will be the same site you picked your domain on, they always offer hosting. You have to pay for that too, usually its a 1-3 year contract. Once you pay its set up immediatly the site, the name, everything is all yours. Its really very easy, dont worry about it.
Well back in the day one company bid on all the rights to domain name registration. They wont the absolute right to buy/sell domain names which was an unbelievable investment, greatest! Anyways they now allow other people to register domain names but you have to pay a tax...
I have just bought quite a few domains from both crazydomains.com.au and also godaddy.com Just type in domain name you want to register with extension you want i.e. .com is best if you can get it and if available register the domain name. You can choose other types for example .net, .org, .info etc. The godaddy website explains each of these and what they are best used for. If you are trying to protect a brand then best to get more than just the .com. You can own as many domains as you want and they vary in prices. Hope this helps.
First of all you have to register a domain name with a (recognized) registrar. After your payment you'll see your domain name listed in your account panel. Now you have to couple your domain name to your hosting account (or park your domain). You can point your domain name to your hosting account by changing the (default) namesevers or to create custom records for your domain. Changing the nameservers is the easiest thing to do.
