How to Sell Your Website on SitePoint & DigitalPoint

Recently I sold a niche website for $12.5k via the SitePoint Marketplace. You can also post your site sale in the DigitalPoint Buy/Sell section which is just as an effective source of potential buyers.

My suggestion is to do a combination. Create the listing on SitePoint so you have the advantage of the auction format. And then post your sales pitch on the DigitalPoint Buy/Sell section including a link to your SP Marketplace auction.

This way you get the best of both worlds.

Feel free to share your thoughts on selling websites in general and using the SitePoint & DigitalPoint marketplaces.

Good idea actually. I am looking at selling banzza.com soon. Never listed anything in the sitepoint marketplace before.

I thought about looking for more information to Site Flipping since I only have a few basic ideas of it and I haven't truly mastered the concept yet.

You dont need to give out the domain as I am sure the person that bought it would prefer you not, but can you tell us what money it was bringing in? Did it have its own product, was $12k 10X monthly revenue?

Things like that so no one thinks they are going to get $12k for a new site because it looks COOL

That is a good idea. I am starting to dabble in this enterprise and when I finally get the required 25 posts on this site I'll give it a try.

Sure thing. The site was primarily Adsense and I ended up selling for about 20x monthly revenue because of the extra value and personal dedication included.

I'm interested in sharing my tips so I've since posted a detailed guide on my blog outlining exactly what you should say and what you should do to guarantee maximum sale value for your website.

Feel free to post your comments there - and here on DP so we can continue the discussion.

Thanks Zoomer for the tip, I don't flip websites but I am always running across people that have questions about selling and listing.

That's a great idea to target both a community that has a free ad section and one where you have to pay for ad space.
