Hi I'd like your advice on how to sell an ebook. I have a website but not a shopping cart or other similar script/setup. I'm looking for advice not only on the technical side (dlguard, etc.) but also how that will dovetail with affiliate networks. For example, clickbank would do everything (pretty much) but I'd like to know what else is out there in terms of tools and options. Any ideas on security and copyright protection like secure-ebook.com also welcome. appreciate all the help! Thank You.
well, if your selling a single eBook via a landing page its quite simple. setup an auto responder so when someone purchases the eBook they receive the automated email @ their Paypal email address. Within that automated email have a link to the download page (very unsafe, your eBook will get leaked quick). I'm not 100% sure about DLguard, etc. http://www.dlguard.com/dlginfo/index.php read about it there, it seems relatively simple to setup, although I myself have never used it. But, you don't really need a traditional "shopping cart" for a single eBook. Here are some sample landing pages: http://www.seoelite.com/index2.htm http://www.breakfree-traffic.com/ http://www.affiliatesitex.com/?hop=etpro&gclid=CJSx9MHl-pICFSMaagodB23iGA I'm not saying these are quality landing pages by any means, but they work. Clickbank is probably your best bet, its simple and filled with people willing to advertise a quality product. Keep in mind, there is tons of competition via Clickbank for eBooks. Hope that helped. edit: Never heard of http://secure-ebook.com/ ... but, as someone who is an active part of the blackhat community, id say do all you can to keep your eBook protected, because it will get leaked if you don't! One last thing before I log off, register on blackhat forums, 90% of them will remove your leaked eBook if you request.
thanks jolt, one quick follow up question, what do you recommend to secure the ebook from being copied and passed around? or is there an effective way of doing this? cheers
If it's just a simple ebook, just set it up with clickbank. It's easy, cheap and there are lots of affiliates who will check out your product. As for the protection thing, I would'nt even worry about it. It's gonna happen one way or another.
Personally, I will go with ClickBank for ease of running the affiliate program. Support and all is readily available plus they already have a huge pool of affiliates.
when you set up your clickbank download page, make sure that put a "robot no follow" code in it, otherwise the download page will get indexed in google.
Or have the file location outsie ofthe public_html location so that it doesnt get indexed.that will work regards dd
thanks everyone, I think I'll go with clickbank but something on their TOS scares me: http://www.clickbank.com/publisher_faq.html#pub_question_4 so I have to pay for a revoked sale? that makes no sense! why would the seller get punished if the buyer was irresponsible? HL08, not sure what you mean? do you mean the landing page? or the page that the customer gets redirected to when they want to make a purchase? clickbank requires two pages, right? the landing/sales page + thank you page. which one are you talking about? thanks! chantown, I'm with you there. I am sooo sick and tired of these scroll down, down, down landing pages. WTF? what happened to a short/sweet, simple sales pitch? if you can't communicate the added value of your product/service in a few sentences you are lost.
