Here's an idea I had a few months back, and I did actually implement a prototype, but my ethics got the better of me before I released it to the world. Please feel free to use this idea. It would probably get you banned from these sites, however... It works best if you have an old Google API key, not the new AJAX stuff. With the increasing use of MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog and other widgets for visitors to announce to the site who they are, what if we did this with JavaScript: 1. Find out who the user is by examining the MBL/BC code. 2. Personalise your landing page by inserting the user name and picture liberally. 3. Run a Google search - text and pictures - on the user name to come up with shocking text about "HOW YOUR NAME APPEARS OVER ONE MILLION TIMES ON THE INTERNET!" 4. Pitch your anti-Spyware, ID theft protection product. 5. ?? 6. Profit!
