How to Sell a Domain Name

I own and operate several websites, but have never sold a domain name before.

I was playing around on the web today and found an available domain name that I purchased impulsively. (It was only 10 bucks... so I figured, why not buy it?)

    The domain is:
    • 5 letters long
    • Easily pronuncable
    • a dot com
    • No numbers or dashes-- just a word

It's not a dictionary word, but a google search shows 41,000 web sites with the word on it. And I think it would be easy to brand.

So, anyway, I bought my first "cool" domain... and have no intentions of using it myself.

My question: What's the best way to sell it and make a decent profit? This morning, I uploaded a little "for sale" ad on the domain. Should I wait for people to contact me... or should I post it on Sedo? (I'm not in a hurry to sell it...I'd rather wait a little while if it will help me to make more.)

Also: Should I put a price on it... or say, "Make offer"? I honestly don't know what it's worth... if anything. Is it worth spending the money for an appraisal... or is there a way to estimate the value myself? What do 5-letter, pronuncable dot coms go for?

Many thanks for any and all advice.

P.S. I hope I put this in the right forum. The "buying/selling domains" forum was just filled with ads.... I'm seeking help/advice.
