Just select a cell...and then pressing down the shift key.....press the up or down key simultaneously....this should help you select cells in a column.

For selecting cells in a row.....press and hold shift and press left or right key...

Are you using laptop with a touch pad? Just press and hold the shift key and move using the left and right key.

After that we you want to move to different column, just use your touch pad to move the pointer and then while holding down the ctrl key, touch and select another cell. Repeat the steps above.

Other than the touch pad, I don't find any other ways possible. Maybe others can help...

Sure it's possible, it's called extend mode. To support users with disabilities, most everything is possible without a mouse in well designed software products.

To turn extend mode on or off, press F8. You will see EXT in the status bar.

To add another range of cells to the selection, press SHIFT+F8, you will see ADD in the status bar, then use the arrow keys to move to the start of the range you want to add; press F8 and the arrow keys to select the next range, and so on.

That's true. We have try out all the key and explore ourselves. There is also a short-cut keys list available.
