    Here is a list of tools for Keyword Research. All Tools are giving correct result. But you have to use composite result from all of them. You know that Overture is giving result from last 3 month & some other gives result from last one year. So, try all of them.

    there's nothing 100% accurate, even if there was, the person who knows it will keep it to himself

    start with a 1-day wordtracker account & learn to use it well, it's the most basic yet important tool for keyword research

    I second this suggestion - in my experience, Wordtracker has proven to be the most accurate, and current, of all the keyword research tools. On top of that, a one-day subscription usually lasts for around three days. :)

    Incidentally, anybody knows the ratio between overture search volume and say google? For example, if some keyword combination was searched for 1000 times in overture, how many equivalent searches on Google?

    I believe the best way is to look at your competition and see which keywords they are using (chances are they have spent ages working out the best ones). Lots of tools out there to show your competitors site from a search engines (keywords) perspective.

    The information I've seen indicates that Google's volume represents roughly 8 times Overture's. So for an Overture search count of 1000, Google would be around 8000.

    Keyword selection is about half research and about half intuition. Sure you can easily find a list of moderate to competitive 1-2 word terms. After that research tools get a little shaky.
    In my opinion 3-4 word terms are best and for that you need to be able to effectively mesh the shorter terms in a coherent way.

    This is a simple diagram to show why 4 term phrases are more effective than 2 term phrases. I am also completely excluding proximity which favors 4 term phrases.

    Two term phrase posibilities: (A) (B)
    (A) :: (B) :: (A) (B)
    This results in 3 possible matches. Two of the matches are likely high competition matches while the third likely targets a moderate phrase.

    Thee term phrase posibilities: (A) (B) (C)
    (A) :: (B) :: (C) :: (A) (B) :: (B) (C) :: (A) (B) (C)
    Three term phrases offer 6 possibilities. 3 likely high competition, 2 moderate and 1 low.

    Four term phrase posibilities: (A) (B) (C) (D)
    (A) :: (B) :: (C) :: (D) :: (A) (B) :: (B) (C) :: (C) (D) :: (A) (B) (C) :: (B) (C) (D) :: (A) (B) (C) (D)
    A four term phrase offers 10 exact matches. 4 likely high competition, 3 moderate and 3 low competition phrases.

    duilen's reply is right on.

    Building an accurate keyword and key phrase list takes more than using the same tools as everyone else.

    Definately avoid thinking using one tool to compile your list is sufficient. Or don't avoid thinking that and let the rest of us benefit. Whatever.

    It takes a lot more than simply guessing at your keywords to plug into Overture or the like. Intuition, research, insight, and a definite skill level is required to build a successful list. Automating the list may be simple and less time consuming, it will also be less accurate.

    Build a well rounded keyword list. If you can't, don't know how, don't have the time, or don't care enough to do it hire one of us on DP who can and will:D
