if you wanna safe from hacker, I think it depend on your hosting place.
If your hosting have backdoor then hacker can get all.
But I think prevent from your site is better.
If you want only visitor can comment on your blog, use captcha plugin for validity.
    This is only suggestion.

wordpress should be secure as long as you don't use any third party plugins, and keep it up to date.
the chances of your word-press site getting hacked by a brand new exploit is virtually non-existent.

as for viruses, you should be more concerned about key-loggers and other malaware on your own personal computer.
probably about 90% of the time that someone gets hacked, they weren't actually hacked, some skid probably just put a keylogger on their computer.

WRONG ! Wordpress is really hackable. Scan it with Acunetix scans, and you will find that if the chmod is not right, you can read the mysql user and password + admin panel. That's why wordpress is free :)

chmod has nothing to do with the actual wordpress script, that has to do with people failing to install wordpress properly.

You can do one more thing to secure your site just apply the security polices on your windows firewall. This process ll take some time but it ll definitely secure your site.
