How to scan apx 1000 photos?

Anyone got suggestions on the best way to scan about 1000 photos?

I've taken up the challenge of scanning our family photos (again!) - I did it about 15 years ago but only at 300dpi. This time I'm planning on scanning at 1200dpi (the max res on my old Canon N1220U) and saving to JPEG at 95% quality (results in filesizes around 10MB per photo).

So far, the best way I've found is to use VueScan, with no correction (I can do this later in PS), and just scan each photo using auto crop (with manual fine tuning) and scan to file.

    Anything else I should consider?

hmmm it seems a big task for you.

well i would suggest you to hire some one to do it as well as you should also do some. means half for you and half for him Or you can hire as many as you want.

    Good luck with scanning

I honestly don't trust anyone else with out photos. Some of them are from the 1800s and can't be replaced, so I really don't want to let them out of my sight.

I don't mind the time it will take - I certainly won't be doing them all in one go :p I just want to get it as 'right' as I can this time.

There are here at the local markets ( India )

Yeah sure. I'll send our priceless 100 year old photos to a market in India.

I'll say it again : I'm not giving the photos to anyone. I don't mind doing it myself.
