if you have multiple domains on a shared server, does the htaccess go in the main domain under public_html folder, or the base of each folder ( domain)?

if some domains dont have an htaccess file, can i just write one up in text editor ( and add only the code provided above)?

When you say "leaching" do you mean they hammer the life out of them, or something else?

 

Can't you just disable direct processing and let them go to your main page? Instead of denying access.

I have noticed on several of my proxies that users with Iranian IP addresses seem to be very fond of a certain type of web site - you know the type with lots of large detailed images Those sites seem to consume significant bandwidth. Just an observation. I am sure they are not the only ones.

Guys and Gals, the smarter strategy is to kill off that traffic with pop-ups and pop-unders. You make money while saving the server.

 

Yea... why run a proxy if you don't want people to use it? Or want to dictate how much bandwidth they use? Just let them do what they want and "monetize" it as they say. =)

Then simple make suitable list to your .htaccess.

 

I would say that China users are as bad as Iran. I used to use this .htaccess method to deny them access but now, I switch to sending them to my mainpage instead to having them hotlink from elsewhere. It does save a lot of bandwidth as well.

 

So if you are going to ban iran china turkey and maybe others
do not make any proxy site
just do something for the websites you like your visitors surf(and could you call this a PROXY site?)


like orkutproxy ,...
you could use several ads , pop ups ,... to make much more revenue

 

Another option might be to install AdLogger. And then configure it to show ads from a different network to Iranian/Chinese IP addresses?

I'm probably gonna get banned from google adsense for letting this SOB access my proxy. Highly recommend you ban certain countries from your proxy. Nuf said

 

You'll probably be ok. Just ban the "SOB" now Also, tighten your adlogger settings to 2 clicks per IP per 48 hours. That way the other "SOBs" won't have a crack at getting you banned.
