I am not sure about Genesis theme but in Thesis theme we have option for Title tag settings to remove site name from being appended.
If you have installed All in one SEO Plugin, you can edit the Title Tag Rewriter to display title as per your requirement

Well if you install the all in one seo pluggin that should help you do a custom title/description tag. Once done, submit a fresh sitemap to Google.

I am not using any SEO plugin and only using SEO settings of Genesis. I have already deactivated the option of "Append Site Name to Doctitle on inner pages?" from the very start. I don't know how to edit this function without installation of any plugin.

Are you using a caching plugin (supercache, etc.)? It is possible that if your pages are cached you are not seeing the most updated version of your page title even after changing the settings in the Genesis theme.

I have emptied the cache many times and this isn't that I have done this right now, it was disabled from the very start. The name of site appears for few pages only and not all.

I have had the problem with Wordpress not changing CSS setting even after clearing cache. Sounds like our issues may be somewhat related.

remove your desire keyword and wait for next caching, keep patience some times, sure it will right.
