Hi there, I have a WordPress site and it is full of external links that I don't want pointing to my site as it's having a negative impact on my SEO. Is there anyway that I can remove these links? Look forward to your replies. Thanks, Jordan
If other people are linking to your website, the only way I know to get those links removed is to email the webmaster and ask them to remove the links. If you are nice about it, you should have no problem. The question is, why were they linking to you in the first place??
If the links are from free directories or profile pages don't expect the webmasters to remove them without a fee.
You can use Google Disavow Link Tool from Google Webmaster Tools. You will need to make a text list with every domain or link that you want to block. However, this list will be useful only for Google (Bing also have a similar feature).
If you are trying to remove them (which you should since google wants to see effort) you will have to do manual outreach. If you dont have time to do that, there are link removal services out there (just do a search for "link removal services") and you can use them to help remove them.
MOZ has a great explanation on how to do it:http://moz.com/blog/ultimate-guide-to-google-penalty-removal. I find it very helpful for me.
