Via Google I get varying answers. It picks up changes instantly, need to reboot Apache, need to restart https service...

How do I make sure my hosts file changes come into effect?

    We're talking RH Linux.

A change of the hosts files takes effect immediately (or at least with the next dns query).

    OK thanks.

I'll have to dig deeper then since whatever it is I'm trying to do, isn't happening.
