Hi friends I want to register a domain name. I am a newbie so I want your help in this. I just have some questions and I would love if anybody could answer them

how do you register a domain name?

Does it matters from where I get my domain name registered? Many sites offer registration at a bargain price. Will it affect the performance of my site?

What things do u need to keep in mind while registering a domain?

You have a lot of choice to register your domain. You can register it in some widely known registrar, such as godaddy, namecheap, name.com and many more. You can also register it in your hosting provider (most of hosting provider also acts as a domain registrar reseller).

I don't think that there's significant effect in your domain/website performance related to your domain registrar.

My advice is : choose big registrar (such as godaddy, name.com, etc). They always give a discount for every buyer :D

No problem at all for your domain if you point it to free hosting service. However it will always better if you choose a paid-hosting service, because most of them usually give you a better server uptime than the free hosting.

You should register your domains with services that allows pushes so if you are done with it you can sell it and if it expires on your account you can have it auctioned without loosing the domain age (godaddy). That way dropped domains will be a thing of the past.

Wordpress is definitely my choice right now - there're a lot of free themes for you to download, and modify it, and not to mention a lot of blogs "teaching" you how to customize it.

And great Plugins such as All in one SEO, which makes it much juicer!

And while you're coding on your site,
perhaps you could park it somewhere first.

or do a one page ad landing site, though i'm not sure how you do it.

Use namecheap or godaddy. They are both simple and easy to use. Transferring domains is also easy through these services.
