hi guys, i'm currently running a wordpress blog, that gets around 10k~20k traffic per day, i'm using a semi-dedicated server package, but sometimes i keep getting "database connection error" or "AJAX http error", i've searched through google, and asked around and they say it has something to do with my wordpress, so after upgrading it and all, it works fine, but after sometime like 1 hour the problems occur again, than i finally found out from some other forum, that it has something to do with the "server load", so i checked my "server load" on my hosts "cpanel", and WHOA i had a server load of "12.96 (2 CPU's)", according to them that's alot of server usage.... here's comes the questions, 1.) What can i do to reduce the server load??? (reduce html size / CSS / img) 2.) Will upgrading to dedicated server be better?? 3.) what other tips you guys can share or have experience before or done to reduce your server load?? 4.) will reducing the above "HTML size / CSS / IMG" reduce the server load?? Thanks in advance guys..... I think this thread will help alot to other new comers
Certainly, go for a dedicated plan with atleast 1GB RAM and P4 processor. Reducing images or html size has nothing to do with your load. It only contributes to bandwidth.
NO WONDER~!!! btw guys, when click on the "server status" on the "cpanel", does the "server load" refer to what "YOU" are using on the server?? or "OTHER" users are counted in? Thanks
Yes, as it's a semi dedicated plan, some other users are also sharing the same box. I think you should get a cheap dedicated with correct software optimizations for that much traffic.
As an immediate solution, you can restart the HTTP server(Apache, IIS, whatever). It can also be caused by the exceeded mysql connections. Restrating mysql service may solve the problem.
WOW, Thanks for the advice, but i think i can only afford a dedi server next month.... and it's unmanaged... oh well next month will be
Hmm.. What server company are you planning to move to? Liquidweb has managed servers, but the planet does too and is more reliable.
well i'm running a warez site, and there are very few web server outside that can actually support my warez site... know any warez hosting plan out there that has a dedicated server that can support me?
