I was curious to see if you have a lot of graphics and your page takes a long time to load, could this be contributing to bounce rate? I have tons of good content that is relevant about a niche topic but I am at 40-some percent bounce.

Try to make your website more search engine friendly for Google. Please read Google Webmaster Guideline for this.

    i agree with this post.
analyze the keyword queries through which visitors found your page. What they were looking for? Did you have it on your page? Did they find what they were looking for?

I know one simple trick that can lower your bouce rate. Post some short and interesting Video clip on home page that explains in short what you have on site. People like to watch, don't like to read.

Check the loading time of your site. A great factor of increase bouce rate is loading time of your site. If it takes more time, check your page. Simple pages with content, less flash loads quickly.

Recently I found out by changing some of my graphics to jpg over png I greatly reduced the size and load time of the page. I'm still working on figuring out a few more things but thank you all for your good suggestions and I hope I can reduce some bouncing.

A bounce rate of 50% can be quite normal, but it will always depend on where the audience is coming from i.e. how relevant the site is to the user i.e. Google Ad's can have a high bounce rate due to dispersed audience so you can try being more specific in placement or if it is organic it may be your page description or meta data. The main thin obviously is to get the home page content right in terms of getting across to the audience immediately benefits and what you are offering to entice and keep the audience.

First analyze the traffic sources and keywords of your site. If you want to reduce bounce rate then you can create a small video section on your website's home page and upload newly video. It may help to reduce some bounce rate of your site.

You need to make sure the users spend more time on your website... Your website should contain what the users have searched for in search engine...

WHy even worry about bounce rates? Does it really matter if it is at 50% or even 90%? All that matters is your conversion rate, so why not optimize for that instead.

Good Web Layout And Design : You should be careful when choosing between magazine and normal layout theme. Many recommended Thesis theme for better bounce rate. The look of your site’s design can force your visitors to stay.
Relevant Content : If your blog is about Animals, then publish articles related to Animals category alone. Don’t write about Fruits and Vegetables. Because visitors will expect more from Animals category. Each page of your blog should be on-topic
