    Graphics Interchange Format

GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format which is a bitmap image format. Due to its wide supportive nature and portability it is widely used in the World Wide Web. GIF incorporates such an amazing technique that it can reduce the file size without compromising with the visual quality. This image format is simply suitable for sharp-edged line art which is limited for the number of colors.

    Usage of GIF

#GIFs can be used to store low-color sprite data for games.
#GIFs can be used for small animations and low-resolution film clips.
#GIFs are suitable for sharp-edged line art (such as logos) with a limited number of colors. This takes advantage of the format's lossless compression.

    Lost GIF Accidentally

Gif images unlike the jpg images that can be obtain by a digital camera directly, generally they are made of through software and spend a lot of time on them, if those pictures lost accidentally for some reason, is there any programs can do a GIF Picture Recovery?

    Causes of GIF Files Loss

#Accidental Deletion: Accidental deletion of photos is one of the common reason of losing them. There be various causes of accidental deletion of photos, such as: Delete GIF files by pressing 'Shift + Delete' without backup. Empty the 'Trash' on your Mac without backup.
#Unexpected Format: Unwanted or unexpected formatting of storage device without taking their backup also leads to GIF files loss.
#Virus Infection: Some virus might be delete files on your computer without permission.

Most people suppose that those GIF pictures are gone forever. But this is not true; those images are still on the MAC, with the help of the recovery software developed by uMacsoft, you can still recover it.

The Difference Between GIF and JPEG

JPEG is a standard image compression mechanism. JPEG is designed for compressing full-color images of real-world. JPEG handles only still images.
JPEG is "loss", meaning that the image you get out of decompression isn't quite identical to what you originally put in. JPEG is intended for compressing images that will be looked at by humans.
A lot of people are scared off by the term "loss compression". But by comparison with the real-world scene, JPEG loses far less information than GIF.

If it was a normal format, the data is still there and hasn't been overwritten yet. Google for something like "mac data recovery app" and see what they can find. May this is one another way to solve out this problem. Thanks for sharing this information here with us.
