How to recover a website from Google Penguin effect

    Your on page and offpage is responsible for penguin affect, so if your website hit by penguin then you need to remove your all unrelevant backlink and make combination both dofollow backlink and nofollow backlink, target several keywords for a webpage and relevancy must meter here.
    and at on page manage your internal linking, OBL, ignore clocking, over optimization, make your site useful as user point of view not search engine point of view. Then you can get your ranking soon.

    Correct the update WAS to target spam sites, but many non spam sites have been caught up in the penalties. 2 of our sites affected but no spam ALL unique 100% contnet and quality! No messages form Google either...

    As usual normal tips we should be follow if site penalize by penguin update...
    1. Don't try to make more anchor text with same keywords, try some branding keywords for your business too
    2. Use fresh and unique content
    3. Try to get backlinks from authority websites
    4. Remove all unrelated links on your website.
    5. Only obtain backlinks by guest posting on relevant sites or by providing great content.
    6. Try and get links to your site with different anchor texts.
    7. Try and get links to your site with different anchor texts.
    8. Try and include only contextual links.

    Quality content and quality back links are the key. If your site was promoted by stuffing it with a large number of back links from non-relevant sites or the link text is keyword-based than you have to take all and every link, analyse it , then decide if you keep it or not. And again: quality, quality, quality.

    remove low quality backlinks, check Anchor text,, and use keywords variation for backlink..and the start building quality links

    Congrats Fionna, you gave the best answer of all here. There is more but for now I just want to add; add lots of links without anchor (just your URL or domain name). For more advice an analysis of your site is needed.
