Ok is it possible to receive payments on an unverified account? Whenever I get money sent to me the service charge is the same as the amount sent. I don't understand that. I have a personal account. Will verifying my account solve this problem?
Be sure to look over the paypal charges chart located under their help section. If you are receiving very small amounts then the base charges very well could be amounting to almost as much as you get. You can receive payments with a unverified personal account, but there is more that you can do with it being verified or even making it a business level account, but the fees never get cheaper.

Yes, it is possible to receive payment on an unverified account. I don't understand why the service charge = amount sent. It should be free to receive PayPal payments and 4.9% + $0.30 USD (up to 5 times per year) to receive payment from elsewhere. Verifying your account is a smart move if you use it a lot because it removes the payout limits.
Apparently it was something with the buyer but it was my first sale so strange coincidence. Either way my account is fine and I'm verifying my account now anyway. Thanks for the replies though.
You can send and recieve payments even if your account is unverified, however, withdrawing to bank account or purchasing things online may have issues. to be safe, verify it.
