Hey guys, I am still quite new to the internet business, but I have had my site (listendog.com) for 1 month now, its PR2, somehow lol, I have been getting links, am very happy :D. Ok, about the keyword I want. I have been trying to rank top for the keyword "Dog Training" but I rank 25th for dogtraining as one word but not seen with two, can any of you guys give me SEO tips so that I can rank #1 for Dog Training. I have done lots of research on the #1 sites but cant seem to find anything really different/helpful. Any tips?

    Thanks.

You probably just need more links from quality sites. The keyword 'dog training' is probably somewhat competitive. Check some of the backlinks for the sites ranking on the first or second page. Try to copy some of their links. You may also want to add more content to your site. Perhaps you should make a page called dog-training.html
That will make it more obvious to search engines that your site is about dog training. Also try to get links from pages on other sites that mention dog training in the title.

I suspect that the big difference between the top sites and yours is that theirs have been around a long time and yours is only 1 month old. Google needs to trust you and that takes time unfortunately (I'm in the same boat with 2 new sites less than 2 months old). Just keep building quality backlinks and adding unique content and you will eventually see some results. I've read it can take 6 months to a year to really get Google to rank you well especially when you're talking about competitive keywords.

In the mystical world of serps, links is King, content is Queen and age is certainly a factor. Patience my friend, patience. This forum is filled with lots of great info from many who know of where they speak and some who are simply clueless. IMO keep adding links, quality links are preferable to simply volumes of links so try and get good links from the highest pr possible but simply get links inbound to your page and use proper anchor text. The more content you add the more frequently you will get crawled, and that is good as well. As you are but a pup, one month old, it may take some months before you see the results of your labor but you are off to a very good start.

As others have said keep building backlinks and you should hopefully see your serps improve. I would recommend you vary your anchor text though, rather than always using the same keyword.

Patience is a virtue. Keep building links and don't worry much about the SERP.
Your site is pretty much brand new, it will take some time before it starts ranking for top keywords.

TIP: never ever reveal what keywords your site ranks for. Believe me you don't need more competition.

It's not just about Quantity, it's about Quality. Where the links come from. And I do not focus my link campaigns solely on search rank, but I go after links that will generate traffic in and of themselves.

Google is very against paid links, but they can work very well.

You have to figure out how to get your links, and appropriate anchor text back to your site from sites that already have traffic - and it's not easy. Because you have to think from that sites perspective, and what is in it for them.

Create more content and build tons of quality links in our site. :D Since dog training is medium competitive keyword, it would take some time before you reach the top position. So I suggest, that you continue link building and research for other helpful techniques. :D

    You have to remember

Google takes domain age seriously, the older the domain, the higher it is ranked for the same keyword

For the word "Dog Training" you have to gather good backlinks with the same anchor text. Submit article in directories and place link on anchor text "Dog Training". Submit new stories with experience and submit them into content syndication sites.

Google keeps tab on one's patience, besides other things. So, as your domain ages, it will be ranked better. Keep on building backlinks and adding fresh and unique content.

If you can rank for "dogs" you should probably focus on "buy viagra" - I can see more money there.

You might want to re-think your strategy with the "dogs" keyword thing because I doubt anybody is typing "dogs" into a search bar looking for dog training. You may get more traffic but it wont convert. Regardless, Good Luck :)

just remember that your eventual serp positions are base upon many different ellements not just one thing.... make sure you have 'great content' good back links and the 'right anchor text on those back links. As was mentioned earlier one of the most important factors today in doing well in the search engines is the age of your domain!!
    Good luck and be patient!

you need to get external links back to your site with the anchor text "dog training." also vary it synonyms like:
    dog lessons
    puppy training
    obedience training
    dog courses
