That's right, get good back links from .co.uk domains.
Well i suggest you to do classifieds submissions for the local business,
I am pretty sure on this, you will find your website on top,
at promotion time, use word UK or United Kingdom, that will help you better.

you can target your keywords by appending UK to the current keywords.

There are a few things you can do :

    1) Use the words - UK / England / London... other local city / towns / suburb names etc... in the content and meta tags of your website --- this clearly tells the SE about the location and relvancy of the website.

    2) Post a local address if you have.

    3) Submit to Yahoo, Google, MSN - LOCAL section - if you do it right, google even would display the location of your business via a google map.

    Thanks,
    Seo Ocean

Google to google.co.uk type your keywords on search box then filter the results into uk sites only by selecting pages from the UK below the search box.

I always thought and read that hosting doesnt matter at all, hosting only matters if you have a domain with no location specified in google tools and google cant figure out its geo, only then it looks for IP to determine were to put it.

So by getting a co.uk for example google knows automaticaly its UK.

I realy doubt that a co.uk hosted in the UK ranks better or is treated any different for google.co.uk then a co.uk hosted in the US.

Atleast for FR,DE,NL,BE i'm sure it doesnt matter at all so most likely for the UK as well.
