I've noticed several pages creep to 1st and 2nd page results on google without a traceable link campaign, no stumblupon . Out Ranking optimized PR3-4 sites with only 1 link on a pr1 page? any theories on how they are optimizing?

 

I think the main factor that we can be certain it influences google rank its the backlinks to your site

 

The amount and quality of inbound links is the most important factors imo

 

If all the opinions are ture, we can beat our competitors easily.

Hmm...his site is nowhere in his preferred keywords now...

 

I only read the first few pages but someone was going on about buying links can get you penalized and/or banned by Google, but surely that isn't true? Otherwise your competitors would buy links on your behalf and then report you to Google.

I very much doubt Google would open those can of worms, so I dont see how buying links can get you penalized, the worse that can happen is the site selling the links gets penalized and thus your links dont pass any/much juice and weight to Google.

 

I think to rank in google, one has to focus on Quality Links rather than Quantity links and focus on your business categories, Good content, informative title is the key for google ranking.
