    • Create quality and optimized content.
    • Optimize tags
    • Embed and map media if possible
    • Submit sitemap
    • Create EDU & GOV Backlinks
    • Distribute 1 tier of backlinks across Web 2.0 and Social Bookmarking properties
    • Backlink to THOSE links using high PR backlinks
    • Create RSS Feeds and get them indexed

That's a basic structure. Hope it helps.

Do Article, Bookmarking and press release for your web-page. Your targeted keyword will come on first page on search engine easily within few month.

What they all have suggested will help your site climb the top search. And you also have to focus on regularly update your site content for the spiders to crawl and for the viewers to view.

Totally agree to this. If anyone knows any secret then why would they share it to you? People always share the common tactics. So better to continue the SEO rather than waiting for someone's suggestion.

Do off-page submission (Article, Bookmarking and press release) for your web-page. you can easily get your ranking on first page, but it take a few month time.

From my personal experience and what i have done for my clients, log term effect last longer than short term effects, You can easily purchase software and get your ranks, backlinks and etc but it just gives you effect for a very short time. Long term effects takes longer time to work on the website compare to short term effect. So i have implemented my very own strategies by using software as well as manual SEO techniques to make sure the website top the list. And it really works very well. So it's better to combine strategies and techniques to get better results for your website.

Hope this helps out beginner marketers out there.

For some reason, people think there is some kind of "secret" to SEO. First step is to read Google's guidelines and work within it.

Start with the basics, meta area, engaging content, targeted anchor texts and social media marketing.

I tried spinning articles, submit to web 2.0, blogs, articles directories.
    After that, I do bookmarking.
But seems my page was sandboxed by google.

Do for another page, and same thing happen. Anyone facing the same problem recently?

Before Panda, I was able to rank easily on first page by doing mass backlinking.

    Agree with w3bmaster's reply above.

The question is really basic and cannot be answered thoroughly. A .com .net or .org. Do you have one of those TLDs or a .co? which aren't as powerful as they are marketed to be.

If you have a good domain with not so stiff competition...Like are page 1 results full of PR5 and PR8 websites, in which case you could have your work cut out. What's the age of the competing sites you're going up against, have you checked to see the amount of backlinks the other sites have. Some may appear easy niches to get into until you find out that the front page results have sites with half a million backlinks.

More importantly: Do you know about on-page SEO?

The above replies seem to assume you do as if that's in place then everything already mentioned will push it up the ranks.

On page you want to be deep linking around your site, from post to post, update regular, schedule if you get ahead, meta details, (all in one SEO pack - WordPress), have you tested different setups to find what works. Bolded subheading or heading 1 and 2 etc, to break up your content. <h1> tags. If you're on wordpress your theme may do an h1 on your post headings. If it is then you probably should use h2 for a subheading. Whether they work or not, isn't for me to say. You have to test this stuff and see what gets you results. I do ok with 1 h1 tag for title and the rest basic formatting. (bold, italic, underline and a bit of font size changes to imitate heading tags, without making it obvious to bots that it's designed to get their attention.

Also if it's a brand new site, then you may want to hold back on firing a ton of external links (affiliate links) and advertising. Focus on your content, making sure you not only write content around the keyword phrase you're targeting but also on related terms. LSI.

There's a ton more to SEO stuff that could be said and asking how to rank is a combo of a bunch of stuff.

Just to confirm to yourself you have optimized the site for SEO, put your keyword phrase in quotes and see where your site is. If your on page stuff is intact then in quotes, it should be close to the front sometimes even the first. That just means you're onpage is optimized. won't get you traffic.

If you have the on site seo stuff down, then from there I would go with the advice above. Notice one thing with everything advised in this thread though. Everything is designed for traffic. It's online exposure you are getting from your backlinks. Whether you put a profile link in a forum , a bookmark on reddit, stumble, digg, an article to ezine or even blog swaps.

Here's what I think of Google...

    A bit like credit

If you don't have money, it's hard to get any credit

    Google...

If you don't have traffic they're not gonna send you any.

I find it easier to get stuff happening in the serps when there's visitors coming to the site. After all, if there's seemingly 3 backlinks appearing each day, it's supposed to mean at least 3 people have been to the site and found the content shareable.

If it gets shared 3 times and has no visits. Well, it's not gonna be difficult for a robot to figure out something is amiss. Yeah, I use google analytics and i don't think it's there for free ;) Do not trust the G but that's just me. Skeptical.

So anyway, post content to the site, put some on directories, other PR blogs if you can fit in the time to talk to site owners about guest posts, do the bookmarks etc get some traffic and take the time to set up a link wheel to pass a ton of link juice back to your site.

    Make it look popular.

When I do spin, I spin the crap out of it. Paragraph, sentence then word spin. best spinner makes it faster. Then you can generate your articles, proof them to make sure they make sense and compare them in dupefreepro.

bookmarking, time consuming and mass submitting tends to get sites sandboxed. If you can, try and schedule the submissions. Never a ton to your home page. 80% links to internal pages and 20% to the home page. For every 4 pages you backlink, send one to your home page. If you can, try and use a tool that lets you rotate with spin too. I like social monkee for bookmarking. Free or really cheap and it works of the best spinners API making it even faster.

If I find a site gets sandboxed, I go and work on another, if I don't want to and just want paid. I'll freelance for a month or 2 and then go back to the site. They do get back, it's just persevering. The only thing I noticed that did lose ranking was directory submissions. Can't remember the company I used for it but it got about 10k links overnight. That sites just came back after 4 months.
