Okay I have a keyword sought out and I want to rank it in Google SERP's like the first page at least. I am not sure how I do that though, what is the way to steadily get ranked in the top page of Google for a specific keyword, whats the process? And another question, for example, if I have the keyword Football Games, and I want to rank for the word Football, would it be better to keep your anchor text as only Football or have Football Games? Does the "Games" part affect you ranking for the word "Football", because Football is one word and not very descriptive, and the user might think its Football site, but really it could be a Football Arcade. thanks!
To get ranked you need to make sure the keywords are located in the title tag and the content of the web page and then build quality inbound links. If it is an internal page of a site, make sure other pages that link to that page have the keywords in the anchor text of the links pointing to the page. Best thing is to use a more specific phrase such as: americam football 572 searches a day fantasy football 1186 " " " football games to play 2104 searches a day I don't recommend to use stop words such as "to" as a keyword.
What if I have the keyword "IT and Developer" would the word and affect my SERP's or hurt it? What about the order of the keyword such as IT and Developer would google cache IT more preferably then Developer?
there is only one for ranking on google. having backlinks with true anchor texts. Football Games, Football and Games are totally different words. having backlinks ith football word will not help Football Games
Dear friend, Imagine if you are going to a supermarket and looking for cold drinks. The most logical place to find that item would be in the beverages area and not car accessories section. Search engines works the same way if you are looking for "IT and developer" and your site is about "football" then it will hurt you. For Google, the order have slight importance in terms of prominance if none. Other search engines do rely on keywords. For example: "IT" will score 100%, "and" 66.67% and "developer" 33.33%. If you use "Developer and IT" then "Developer" = 100%, "and" = 66.67% and "IT" = 33.33% but my advise is to drop "and" from the keywords. As Tricknosis asvised: have relevent high ranking sites pointing to your site to score well.

I think for football related keywords ; its not that much easy.But with hardwork u can get it. You can also consider my tips : 1) First do some Keyword Optimization 2) Make that keywords as ur meta tags , heading , image alt etc 3) With that keywords as Anchor start building backlinks * Directory Submission * Article Submission * Social Bookmarking * Forum Signatures * Blog Posting Hope this may help!
