My site allforme.com.au os desperately trying to do things the right way and rise above some of the "frowned upon techniques" If it was as easy as backlinking then surely everybody would be doing it. For example I know for a fact from my web developer guys that link farms are detested and actively get penalised for using them. Google want content - Matt Cutts has some great videos on the net that I've been wanting and his common theme is "Content is King!" So im going with the google approved, ethically sound route to more traffic! - That and some good adword campaigns!

It's great that you want to create good content and all but you can't ignore backlinks. And actually, it is as easy as backlinking a whole lot. You just need to be patient and give it time. Good content is for readers, not for rising in the SERPs, trust me. Even autoblogs will a good amount of authority and backlinks can outrank the original source.
